Tony Nominations

Oggi sono uscite le nomination per i Tony 2012, che si svolgeranno il 10 giugno. Per una volta conosco (di fama) alcuni spettacoli nominati, incredibile ma vero!
Di seguito l'elenco degli aspiranti vincitori:

Best Musical

• Leap of Faith (la storia di un ciarlatano che promette di curare le folle, con musica di Alan Menken da un film del 1992 con Steve Martin)
• Newsies (musical Disney sullo sciopero degli strilloni di New York, anche qui compone Alan Menken)
• Nice Work If You Can Get It (con musica di George e Ira Gershwin e Matthew Broderick nel ruolo del protagonista, storia di politici e ballerine... No, non in Italia, a New York negli anni '20)
• Once (tratto da un film di qualche anno fa sull'incontro tra due musicisti che cercano di realizzare i propri sogni)

Anche per quest'anno si conferma la tendenza a fare nuovi musical basandosi su vecchi film più o meno famosi: tre nominati su quattro sono musical tratti da vecchi film.

Best Revival of a Musical

• Evita
• Follies
• The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess
• Jesus Christ Superstar

Qui ci sono dei classiconi... Difficile indovinare cosa sceglieranno i giurati, anche se il mio cuore batte per gli show di Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Best Book of a Musical

• Lysistrata Jones - Douglas Carter Beane

(questo show riprende alla lontana la Lisistrata greca, ma credo che abbia resistito poco a Broadway..)

• Newsies- Harvey Fierstein

• Nice Work If You Can Get It - Joe DiPietro 

• Once - Enda Walsh
